Mushroom Music Contract & Album Release Date Announcement

Following a string of headline shows and the coveted NSW and QLD support slot for Australian legends INXS, ZOOPHYTE are proud to announce the release date of the bands sophomore album SOMEWHERE ELSEWHERE on SEPTEMBER 21.

Recorded at Melbourne’s Woodstock Studios and mastered by legendary engineer Bob Ludwig (Nirvana, Radiohead, AC/DC) SOMEWHERE ELSEWHERE is the highly anticipated follow-up to ZOOPHYTE’S 2007 debut Another Point Of View. With line-up changes and sonic restructurings, fans can expect a very different band this time around.

“The old format of the band was a five-piece and we were all into different styles and types of music,” says front man Cam Lee, “But now, everyone is on the same track and it feels like a new band. It’s a much bigger, larger sound; we use a lot of delayed guitars and everyone sings – there’s definitely a stronger, rockier edge to our sound.”

It’s been a stellar year for Melbourne band ZOOPHYTE as they blazed back into the spotlight with the March release of the bands hugely successful new single ‘LET YOU GO’. With its soaring vocal hooks, catchy melody and uplifting guitar dynamics, ‘LET YOU GO’ has seen the band emerge as press darlings whilst garnering enormous support from websites nationally. The single was added to 96FM in Perth, received consistent play across the Triple M Network and sensational support from regional radio around the country.

The video premiered exclusively on ToneDeaf and within 1 week edged close to nearly 1000 views on the site making it one of the strongest performing videos on the site. Within an hour of the ToneDeaf premiere, the video was reposted nationally and internationally. With support from RAGE, video views rapidly escalated to over 3000 views across the bands social networking sites and continues to grow.

Reinforcing the strength of the new sounding album (SOMEWHERE ELSEWHERE) and confirmation of the September 21 release date, ZOOPHYTE are thrilled to announce they will be joining the ranks of the extraordinary roster of talent at MUSHROOM MUSIC PUBLISHING. The deal with the publishing powerhouse will see songs from the record hit desks of Music Supervisors around the country for use in some of the nations’ premium TV programing.

“Mushroom Music is very pleased to announce the signing of Melbourne rock band Zoophyte. They have proved themselves to be an excellent live band on the road and the new songs have broad appeal. We expect their music will go down very well with the music supervisors at our two exclusive television shows – Home & Away and Neighbours.” – Ian James, Managing Director, Mushroom Music Publishing

You can catch ZOOPHYE on the road in Australia throughout September with further dates still to be announced.
