Let the demoing begin!
Yesterday we hit Woodstock studios in Melbourne to begin demoing the first batch of songs for our new album. Armed with 9 new tracks that we’ve been working on over the past 2 months, we teamed up with old time friend and all round good guy Troyos Maximus (Troy Trigwell), who we had worked with during the recording of This Simple Groove back in early 2005.
It was awesome to be back in the studio again… especially at Woodstock of which I’ve always had a soft spot for! The main focus yesterday was to track the bass and drums on all 9 songs, leaving the following 10 days to overdub guitars, vocals, percussion and keys at our own studio in the Eastern Suburbs.
Elvis and Gilps were on fire and the day resulted in pulling some wicked sounds! We are particularly stoked with the way the drum sounds have come up (Thanks to the T-RIGGA!) and now have a solid base to start building everything around. Can’t wait to dive into guitars over the next week!
We were also very lucky to have lens man extraordinaire Myles Kendall on board who has agreed to help film and edit the recording process for us. He brought 4 cameras into Woodstock yesterday, capturing all the action from every angle possible and will be following us around over the next fortnight. We are planning to release a few clips with some of the new songs before the end of the year, so stay tuned for those. We must also thank Al Carr for dropping in and lending us her time and photography skills. She took all the photos you see here. Cheers kiddo!
It has been exciting writing and developing our new tunes over the past months with the new crew. We all really love the new sound and are really happy with what we have achieved this year. Can’t wait to get them complete so you guys and wrap out little ears around them. Shouldn’t be too long now!!! We hope to have some of them up on Myspace before Christmas, along with some video footage of the recording. Looking forward to some feedback.
Speak soon beef burritos!!! XX CAMA
