WA Tour Dairy (Day 1-3)

Arrived at Perth airport mid afternoon and jumped straight in the van to pick up our hire equipment from somewhere in the city. Unfortunately Cam couldn’t take the didge’s on the plane. After we picked up the gear we realised we had to haul ass 400 km’s north of Perth to Geraldton. A couple of brews on the way up went down a treat. The drive from Perth to Geraldton was relatively dull. We managed to have a chat with the odd chap working on the roads which was entertaining. Passed some really really really massive trucks and listened to a lot of Chuck Berry.
Got to Geraldton late in the evening about an hour before kickoff and set up quickly at the Freemasons Hotel. We played 3 sets. Afterwards we met some cool people including Gerry Russell, we love you mate! Stayed the night at the hotel and left early in the morning on route to our next gig in Rockingham, 50 km south of Perth. Loads more driving ahead of us. More brews, more trucks and more Chuck Berry!
We arrived in Rockingham at about 6pm (after another 6 hours in the Van) for the Blues & Roots Revue. Met up with some mates of ours from Melbourne, Symbiosis who were on the bill also. Great to see them play and hang out. They are amazing live. The gig was more laid back with the punters enjoying the tunes from the comfort of the chairs and couches but the response was great. Met some awesome people and really enjoyed playing.
After the gig we were put up for the night by Scotty and Sasha, friends of Cam. Thank you so much for your incredible hospitality. Right now we just had some brekky and are on our way to the Indie Festival in Scarborough, 15 km out of Perth. Good times ahead!!! Can’t wait to play…Looking forward to seeing more of WA, everyone here is really friendly. Going to listen to some Lightnin’ Hopkins and head down to the beach for a coffee before we play.
Gilps xo
