WA Tour Diary (Day 3-4)
We arrived and loaded into Indi Bar (The Indian Hotel) around 2pm and met up with those wacky Symbiosis boys. There was a mini festival being held with two stages and about 10 bands playing throughout the day.
The venue had an amazing atmosphere with one of the stages outside in the sun by a pool and some palm trees. The perfect location for a Sunday Session, especially seeing the weather was a sunny 29 degrees. The other, a larger stage, was inside and had more of a pub rock vibe, like a mini version of the Espy Front Bar.
The bands rotated from stage to stage bringing the energetic crowd inside to rock out, then back poolside to dance in the sun and wade in the pool. It was such a cruisy relaxed vibe!!! What more could you want on a Sunday afternoon?
Once again we played alongside our good mates Symbiosis and caught Luke Steele from the Sleepy Jackson on the poolside stage playing some mellow blues with his old man Rick. Kyla Brox, a soul singer from the UK closed the night with her band and were kick arse! Big Deano carving up the frets with some mind blowing guitar work.
The night wrapped up around midnight and we kicked on into the wee hours of the morning jammin’ it out barracouta style at the Symbiosis pad with Kyla and her band plus a few of the Indi Bar staff. A 40 minute freestyle version of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘ohhhh ohhhhh ohhhh… I’m On Fire’ was the party closer, with angry neighbours not warming to our ‘Boss’ appreciation session!
The following day was our first day off which was nice. We had a late checkout, loaded up the van and headed down to Scarborough Beach for Brekky. Drove past a burnt out car on the way, which was pretty strange before getting a call later in the day from brother A.
Andy asked if it was possible to call in on the Hamish and Andy show playing some guitar for a segment they called “Wailing for the Whales.” So within 20 minutes we managed to find a music shop and plug Jimi in just in time for him to shred his way across the nations airways.
We finished off the day with a relaxing barby at our friend Amy’s house. Amy, who manages our street team, and family put on an amazing spread and were so welcoming. It was nice to sit around chatting over a few wines and we all found it hard to scrape ourselves out of our chairs. Massive thanks to the Suarts for their kind hospitality.
CAMA OUT! XO
