Zoophyte

WA Tour Diary (Day 5-6)

Zoophyte at Little Creatures BreweryTuesday was a fairly lazy day, which was well needed!!! We are lucky enough to be staying with one of Judd’s good mates and all round nice guy, Tim Fisher who lives on Cockburn Road, near Blackbutt Ave in the suburb of Munster. (You have to applaud the Council for that naming effort!) After a little sleep in we finally got ourselves together and headed down to the beach at Woodmans Point for a cleansing swim. The weather was nice and sunny but a bit blowy, which is great if you you’ve got a fetish for being sand whipped whilst lying on the beach. It’s safe to say Judd had a grin on his face for most of the day!

Loading the Oakley VanAfter the beach we headed into Fremantle and had a bit of a look around. Visited the Little Creatures brewery and spent a good 45 minutes sampling the different beers straight from vat. After a couple of “frog sculls” we wandered down to the wharf for some fresh fish and chips before heading back to the ranch to get ready for the gig in Perth. We packed the van and were soon on our way to the Perth Blues Club also know as the Charles Hotel.

Judd warming up backstage at the Perth Blues ClubThis venue was a little different to what we usually play but we had a lot of fun. As our friend Allie said on our Myspace page the venue was like “Roadhouse”… think 80’s Patrick Swayze flick. We got to share the stage with Cass Eager again, who we met and played with in Rockingham last Saturday. It was also great to bump into Ric Steele who was MCing the night.

Zoophyte on stage at the Perth Blues ClubThe other band that played was a blues band called On the Level who were launching their new album. We hung around after the show, sharing a few beers with the bands backstage then decided to head out in town. There wasn’t much open (Everything closes bloody early in Perth!) so we hit up the Casino from a bevvy and a unsuccessful punt.

The Boys at Cottesloe BeachWednesday was another day off for us, which was great. We spent most of the day at Cottesloe Beach chillin on the sand or in the water. A friend Ed Viska had invited us up to a party in the Uni area called Joondalup so after a day on the beach we got changed in the car park and headed North. The party was a end of semester bash for all of the international students.

Gilps belting out some tunes in JoondalupWe had a classic night full of drinking games, schnapps, tunes and dickhead dancing. Met some awesome people from all corners of the globe and had a massive night. Big thanks to all the crew who made us feel very welcome, and to Ed for inviting us up there.

XOX CAMA!

Ah, Cockburn Street, there’s one of those here in Edinburgh as well only they don’t find it as amusing because they pronounce it ‘co-burn’, even though the working girls used to hang out there! Talk about taking the fun out of it! Sounds like you guys are having a blast, can’t wait to catch a gig when I get back to warm and sunny Australia!
